DAY 3:
Laikipia – Excursion

On the second day you will see the most spectacular scenery Kenya has to offer. Find out why this country has caught the imagination and captured the hearts of so many. Sweep across the Lerochi Plateau with her herds of Zebra, Oryx and Thompson Gazelle climbing steadily to the 8000 ft peak of Lesiolo. From this famous viewpoint swoop down the face of the Rift Valley and follow the luggas through increasingly dramatic and tortured lands. See layers of rock of every colour pitched up and thrown about by violent volcanic action until you emerge from this ancient inferno to the open lava flow and sands of the Suguta.

From the Sand Dunes follow the Suguta River as she winds northward to the desert lake of Logipi with her crocodiles, flamingos and pelicans. See the tiny palm-leaf huts of the Turkana people and the lines of camel and cattle casting shadows on the sand. Crest the great bar of rock and lava that dams the Jade Sea and see the vista that took away the breath of the great explorer Teliki. Land on the lava flow, or beside the extinct volcano “Nabiotum” on the lake shore.

Just a few minutes flying from Turkana you’ll be astonished by the magnificent cedar forests, mountain streams and open glades of Mt. Nyiru. Here we might stop for lunch and a few hours of rest in the cool before launching again through the Ndoto Mountains to join the wide sandy floor of the Milgis River. Here the Samburu tribesmen in their flamboyant traditional costumes dig wells in the river, and singing old songs, form chains to pass water up to their cattle. The Milgis takes us south where we skip over the foothills of the Karisias and join the Ewaso Ngiro River to bring us home past the wonderful pinnacle rocks of Naltodo and Ngai Susu.

Overnight at Loisaba lodge (LDBB).

DAY 3:
Laikipia – Loisaba Lodge

Day spent in Laikipia with morning game drives. Loisaba is a true big five destination with access to the Mugie Rhino sanctuary, regular sightings of Leopard, Lion, and Wildogs. In the afternoon, when the mountain is clear you will visit Mount Kenya to walk the lakes or fish for trout there. The flight is electrifying and the exhilaration of finding yourself delivered, in less than an hour, to an “alpine” meadow is impossible to describe. At 11,000 to 13,000 feet you will be surrounded by extraordinary plants, giant flowers, tame birds and lakes full of trout! Return later to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

DAY 4:
Masai Mara – Naibor Camp

After breakfast, take a chopper to the great Maasai Mara Reserve, a wonderful wildlife haven renowned for high predator population and the incredible wildebeest migration. You will be met on arrival at the local airstrip and transferred to Naibor Camp which has striking combination of contemporary style and comfort and muted bush colours. Spacious pale-canvas tents accommodate king-size beds of fig-wood with soft quilts, wide sofas furnished with bolster cushions and wool rugs, each positioned for the maximum enjoyment of the surrounding views and complete privacy.
The main ‘mess’ tent is beautifully located overlooking the Talek River and beyond where animals regularly come to drink. Comfortable floor-cushions, rugs and sofas invite the weary to relax and enjoy the sounds of the wilderness and the camp-fire provides a welcome spot for pre-dinner drinks in the evening. Meals are made from the finest fresh ingredients prepared by our experienced chefs. Dinner is served at either the long banquet table or at private tables under the stars, whilst breakfast and lunch may either be served in camp or as a picnic during a morning of game watching.
Afternoon shared game drive conducted by the camp.

Overnight at Naibor Camp (LDBB).

DAY 5 & 6:
Masai Mara – Naibor Camp

Day spent in the reserve with morning and afternoon shared game drives. The area is famous for rolling grassland and for the Mara River, which runs through the reserve from north to south. The reserve covers an area of 700 square miles and forms part of the Serengeti ecosystem, hosting the world famous spectacle of the annual migration of up to two million wildebeest, thousands of zebra and an escort of carnivores from the Serengeti plains that follow the rains and succulent new grass. A costly trek as many of the lame, laggard and sick will fall prey to the ravening pack of predators and many more will die in the swirling flood waters of the Mara River as they try to cross it. While the migration depends on many factors such as the rains, you’ll be here during the best time for this spectacle, one of the greatest on earth!

Optional activities abound while you’re in the Maasai Mara. You can try a balloon safari for an exhilarating experience over the savannah as the early sun rises and the animals are more active. Or, take a short flight to Lake Victoria, where either at Mfangano or Rusinga Islands you can see the life of the natives who rely on fishing and what the lake has to offer – in fact, you can try your hand at fishing as many a times visitors can catch up to 100-pound Nile perch. If fishing is not your thing, there’s a pale anthropological site to be visited, and the area is lovely. Duties permitting, a Maasai warden will discuss current conservation issues faced in the Mara. If you wish, for a nominal fee, you can also visit a Maasai Village to experience this nomadic tribe’s way of life and see their colorful culture.

On the second day, you will have half day chopper safari in the reserve.

Overnight at Naibor Camp (LDBB).

DAY 7:
